It’s been awhile…
So where has the time gone?! It’s been an interesting and exciting past few months, not only was ‘Dream the Dream’ featured to promote the ‘Life of Pi’ movie, the song ‘Introspective’ was used in promotion for the fantastic German film ‘Die Wand’ (The Wall) and I spent my time playing a lot of videogames and getting a lot of lol wins.
I was invited earlier in the year to appear at the Dutch conference Buma Music In Motion which took place during May, as part of a panel discussing the way music for games and its consumption is changing as mobile gaming becomes more popular. On the panel was myself, Stuart Dredge (The Guardian), Tuur Hendrikx (SonicPicnic) and the moderator was journalist Gary Smith. It was an interesting discussion and sadly the 40 minute time slot was over all too quickly! As a side note Amsterdam is a fantastic city and taking the train all the way there was a relaxed way to travel, one I’d recommend if you have the time.
Recently I was part of a team of four chosen to take part in a game jam for the Royal Society, nothing like a bit of time pressure to focus the mind! It never ceases to amaze me seeing people working at their disciplines, I have nothing but good words and praise for my fellow team members Andrew Roper, Andrew Smith and Ewan Brock. I’ll be posting a link to the final game when it goes live on the Royal Society website.
Finally (though I’m sure I’ve forgotten something…) I’m off to Abbey Road towards the end of June to record with the Royal Philharmonic for Audio Network. I believe we’re recording in Studio 2 which I think is the same room the Beatles recorded in, here’s a link:
To be honest…I’m just a little bit excited!!!
